On June 26th, we went rafting on the Lochsa river in Idaho. We went with Lewis and Clark Trail Adventures (http://www.trailadventures.com/lochsa.html) - the owners are Ammu's host family and very nice people.

It was a great trip and my first one on white-water or rafting for that matter (Can you imagine, after 5 years in Montana, this is my first time in a raft!). The Lochsa is less than an hour outside Missoula, and offers some of the greatest white-water around. Here is what the Outside Magazine says about the river.

"Unlike other big western whitewater, which runs pool-and-drop, most of the Lochsa simply drops, with little respite between rapids."

During spring runoff (May-June) the Lochsa roars over… 37 Class III rapids, 25 Class IV rapids and 2 Class Vs.

If you are ever in the area in summer, I highly recommend a trip on this river. And I have got to recommend Lewis and Clark Trail Adventures. They had professional and experienced guides, who took the boat through the cleanest lines through the water. Never did I feel like the boat was going to flip, might sound boring, but on a river that runs wild like this one.... thats a very good thing. Check-out LCTA's web-page on the Lochsa river : http://www.trailadventures.com/lochsa.html for information about booking a trip and the best times to go.
